Frank Gettridge

President and CEO, The Philanthropic Collaborative for Education

Frank L. Gettridge is the President and CEO of The Philanthropic Collaborative for Education, formerly known as the National Public Education Support Fund. The Collaborative offers a unique value to education funders and other partners in communities in the education philanthropy sector, providing support and opportunities to collaborate around complex issues in education.
A New Orleans native, Frank possesses over 30 years of experience in education, with impressive time and variety as an early childhood teacher and administrator, an elementary and high school teacher, and as an administrator.


Before The Collaborative, Frank was a program officer at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, overseeing national program strategy integration. Frank elevated investments focusing on strengthening the teacher-of-color pipeline, transformative family engagement, and closing the 3rd-grade achievement gap.


Earlier in his career, Frank was a dedicated elementary school principal in the Chicago Public Schools, where he successfully navigated a Union strike and one of the largest school closings in this countryโ€™s history.


Frank holds a doctorate in global education from the University of Southern California, in pursuit of which he studied public education systems across three different countries. He holds a masterโ€™s degree in child development from the Erikson Institute in Chicago, IL, and a bachelorโ€™s degree in early childhood education from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, GA. Notably, Frank was also selected as a National Head Start Fellow, an Association of Black Foundation Executives Fellow, a Childrenโ€™s Defense Fund Fellow, and served as a National Association for the Education of Young Childrenโ€™s Governing Board member. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at the Erikson Institute, chairs the Board for Branch Alliance for Educator Diversity, and holds seats on several other notable Boards.
