Making Digital Learning a Team Effort – Future Ready Librarians® and Future Ready Instructional Leaders™ Are Better Together!
Guests
- Shannon McClintock Miller, Future Ready Librarians® Spokesperson, K–12 District Teacher Librarian, Van Meter Community School (IA) (@shannonmmiller)
- Brianna Hodges, Future Ready Instructional Leaders™ Spokesperson, Future Ready Schools® National Faculty(@bhodgesEDU)
More so than ever before, technology has become an essential school supply for every classroom across the country. Recognizing the shift from enhancing learning to enabling learning, educators nationwide are redesigning, reimagining, and, in many cases, reinventing how students experience school.
We know we can’t survive working in isolation. That’s why Future Ready Librarians® and Future Ready Instructional Leaders™ need to work together to ensure every student has access to high-quality instruction, whether they are learning in the school building or at home.
Future Ready Schools® (FRS) advisors Shannon McClintock Miller and Brianna Hodges shared their expertise and ideas for authentically integrating digital learning into students’ remote and in-person instruction. The webinar offered tips, themes, and topics for creating, curating, and coaching digital learning lessons on the following topics:
- digital building, robotics, and \circuits;
- digital literacy;
- digital storytelling;
- digital citizenship;
- virtual reality/augmented reality;
- coding
- digital art and music;
- 3D printing; and
- news and media literacy.
Just as learning is best when designed for interactivity and dialogue, our guests modeled strategies and scenarios that leverage small group discussions to deepen discovery and heighten shared experience.
Panelists and audience members connected and collaborated with the FRS network; offered experience and efforts; gleaned insight from exemplars; and sharde struggles, support, and stories. Aimed at providing audiences with all the resources they’d need to make digital learning a team effort on their own campuses, they received turnkey Digital Learning Day choice boards and station set-ups (digital and face-to-face versions) to use with faculties, libraries, schools, and even their communities.
This was a LIVE interactive webinar that shared lots of great ideas and inspiration.
