Shannon McClintock Miller and Jimmy Casas hosted the second annual Future Ready Librarians® Summer Book Club. The six week book club was a chance for all of us to reflect, grow, and celebrate our role as Future Ready Librarians.
We read the book, Culturize, and it sparked conversations on what it takes to cultivate a community of learners who embody the innately human traits our world desperately needs, such as kindness, honesty, and compassion. Jimmy shared stories about how to reveal “soft skills” that can be used to while meeting and exceeding academic standards of twenty-first-century learning.
We Discussed
- How to reach those who seem unreachable;
- What to do when students disengage or drop out of school;
- How to ensure your learners feel cared for and empowered; and
- How to create an environment where all learners are challenged and inspired to be their best.
Welcome by Jimmy and Shannon
