Statement from Amy Loyd, President and CEO of All4Ed, on the Trump Administration’s Reversal of Sensitive Locations Guidance

“Schools are the centers of their communities. Students come to learn, build relationships and grow. Parents trust their neighborhood schools to provide safety and opportunity to their children.

“The Trump administration’s decision to reverse over a decade of guidance restricting immigration enforcement in sensitive locations such as schools, churches, and hospitals is a deeply troubling and harmful step. For years, these protections have provided a critical sense of safety for all families in these shared spaces, ensuring that children can attend school, families can access healthcare, and communities can worship without fear of intimidation or separation.

“This reversal threatens to destabilize not only immigrant families but also the schools and educators who serve them. Schools should be safe havens where all children—regardless of their immigration status—feel secure and supported in their learning. This action undermines that security, risking devastating consequences for all of our students’ mental health, academic performance, and overall well-being.

“Once again, we are putting our children and their educators at the frontlines of a political battle.

“All4Ed will always stand with children, their families, educators, and communities across the nation in opposing policies that jeopardize their safety and education. We urge the administration to prioritize the well-being of children and families over fear-based enforcement tactics. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment free from fear, and every family deserves to feel safe in their community.”
