“I commend the Federal Communications Commission and Acting Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, along with U.S. Sen. Ed Markey and U.S. Rep. Grace Meng, for their leadership on the Emergency Connectivity Fund. I appreciate the speed with which the FCC is making this funding available to the millions of students and educators who are still struggling with access to the internet and digital devices more than a year after the pandemic shuttered schools. We have a lot of work to do to close the Homework Gap—which existed long before the pandemic. This infusion of resources is an important step in that direction. Our students and educators deserve nothing less.”
Deborah S. Delisle is the president and CEO of the Alliance for Excellent Education and served as assistant secretary of elementary and secondary education from 2012 to 2015.
