Kris Amundson
Kristen Amundson has more than three decades of leadership in K-12 education at the local, state, and national levels. She served as the President and CEO of the National Association of State Boards of Education from 2013 – 2019.
Amundson represented the 44th District in the Virginia General Assembly from 1999 to 2009. Before her election to the General Assembly, Amundson—a former teacher—served for nearly a decade on the Fairfax County, Va., School Board, including two years as its chairwoman.
Her book 81 Questions for Parents: Helping Your Kids Succeed in School was published in 2021. She is a frequent contributor on education to the opinion pages of The Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Washington Post, among others.
