Amy Loyd
Dr. Amy Loyd, Chief Executive Officer of All4Ed, is a national leader in education and workforce development who is deeply committed to creating equitable systems that provide people with meaningful choices, opportunities to thrive, and rewarding, purposeful futures. Throughout her career, she has advanced All4Ed’s core beliefs of equity, excellence, engagement, and empowerment, with a focus on improving outcomes for our students and strengthening our communities.
Before joining All4Ed, Amy served as the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education in the U.S. Department of Education, where she led our nation’s policy portfolio in career and technical education, adult education and family literacy, community and technical colleges, and correctional education. In this role, she launched Unlocking Career Success, a national initiative to reimagine high schools to become more career-connected, community-engaged, and student-centered. Her strategy for building systems of career and college pathways envisions every student graduating from high school with college credit, real-world work-based learning, industry-sought credentials, and advising and navigation supports that help students set and pursue bold visions for their futures.
Prior to Amy’s Senate confirmation as Assistant Secretary, she served as the senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Education responsible for leading on rural education, Native education, White House Initiatives, interagency collaboration, and special projects.
Amy was previously a Vice President at Jobs for the Future (JFF), where she designed and led a national network focused on state and regional policies, practices, and cross-sector partnerships to build systems of college and career pathways. She also was responsible for leading JFF’s extensive work in state and federal policy, and in workforce development with a focus on education and training that lead to good jobs, economic advancement, and lifelong growth opportunities.
Amy started her career in education as a math teacher and a family advocate for Alaska Native and Native American students and families in a large urban district, where she built culturally responsive bridges of communication and collaboration, strengthening high-quality education and wraparound service systems that center student and family voices, and support and lift up students’ successes. She then became the Director of Education at Cook Inlet Tribal Council, leading a network of 14 K-12 public schools providing innovative and comprehensive education through the lenses of culture and community–including after-school and summer learning, and career-connected experiences.
Amy attended Santa Fe Community College and Northern New Mexico Community College, and holds a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s College and a doctorate in education leadership from Harvard University, where she also taught a course on building college and career pathways systems to increase opportunity and equity.
