Washington, DC—“For years, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has given thousands of young people—many of whom have never known a home other than the United States—the chance to achieve the American Dream by pursuing an education and a career without fear of deportation. This important ruling from the Supreme Court, while not the final word on the future of DACA, is at least a reprieve for families who have been living under a cloud of fear during the Trump Administration. Our country needs to support these individuals who have given so much to contribute to its vitality. We need Congress to step up immediately with legislation that provides protection to these vital members of our communities and our education system.”

Deborah S. Delisle is the president and CEO of the Alliance for Excellent Education and served as the U.S. assistant secretary of elementary and secondary education from 2012 to 2015.
