“What’s on the books” is an occasional look at state laws and legislation that pertain to high schools and high school students.

  • School Budgets: A proposed law in New York state would require those who try to influence a school budget vote to attach their name to their efforts. Current state law does not require disclosure for those trying to sway voters on school budgets. –Education Week
  • Homework: The Galloway Township Public School District in New Jersey is considering changing its homework policy so that it is only permissible to assign homework Monday through Thursday – never over weekends or holiday breaks. –Press of Atlantic City
