Many of America’s children are on track for success, but far too many are falling behind. In fact, in America today, one in four children fails to graduate from high school on time. Even fewer finish college. Now, early warning indicator and intervention systems (EWS) can help change that. The recently released report On Track for Success: The Use of Early Warning Indicator and Intervention Systems to Build a Grad Nation is the most up-to-date and comprehensive view on these cutting-edge systems, informed by site visits and interviews with educators in sixteen districts and seven states. The report overviews the research, shares emerging best practices from the field, and provides policy recommendations.
To learn more about EWS, which can maximize educators’ efforts and precious educational dollars, the Alliance for Excellent Education, Civic Enterprises, the Everyone Graduates Center, and the Data Quality Campaign held a webinar on November 9. Guest speakers will included Bob Wise, president of the Alliance for Excellent Education;Mary Bruce, education policy analyst for Civic Enterprises, Bob Balfanz, codirector of the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University; Lyndsay Pinkus, director of national and federal policy initiatives at the Data Quality Campaign, and Kathleen Barfield, executive vice president/CIO of collaborative R&D at Edvance Research.
On Track for Success was coauthored by Civic Enterprises and the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University, and made possible through generous support of AT&T. The full report is available atwww.civicenterprises.net.
