Rescue Me: How The American Rescue Plan Act Helps Students
The $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act will soon be signed by President Biden, sending more than $125 billion to schools and students. The law includes new, critical provisions that will allocate additional resources to support learning loss, provide education and wrap-around services to students experiencing homelessness, and increase access to broadband and technology. The Rescue Plan also includes an equity protection to ensure states do not cut funding disproportionately in high-poverty communities. Plus, President Biden issued a new Eexecutive Oorder to protect students against sexual harassment and assault. The, U.S. Department of Agriculture extended provisions to provide free school meals for all students, and, the U.S. Department of Education released the application for states to waive federal school accountability requirements.
