Equity and the Origins of ESEA
Jack Jennings, Author, Presidents, Congress, and the Public Schools (Harvard Education Press, March 2015), describes the influential role that the federal government has played in education since the 1960s. Jennings served as staff director and general counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor for almost three decades and later founded the Center on Education Policy. He provides the inside story on how the federal government adopted the pursuit of equity as the focus of its education policy.
