Looking to retain teachers, Greenfield leans on support program
A 2014 report by the Alliance for Excellent Education found that about 13 percent of the nation’s 3.4 million teachers move schools or leave the profession every year, which ends up costing states up to $2 billion. The same report concludes that anywhere between 40 and 50 percent of new teachers quit within five years of entering the profession, a high turnover rate that disproportionately affects high-poverty schools.
