It’s a sad fact that tens of thousands of Texas children drop out from schools every year, with the end result of boosting welfare rolls and significantly affecting our economy overall. The Alliance for Excellent Education estimates that the lost lifetime earnings for the 133,200 students who didn’t gradate from high school in 2009 alone is a staggering $34.6 billion.
