Education Week writes about the national teacher of the year, Michelle Shearer, a chemistry teacher at Urbana High School in Ijamsville, Md.

According to The Times-Picayune, new college admission standards in New Orleans will block hundreds of students from gaining acceptance.

In an op-ed in The Hill, Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) writes, “My visits in schools and with parents and teachers in Colorado and across the country have convinced me that if we work together, put politics aside and listen to the voices from outside of Washington and closest to our children, we can reform our schools and build a future where our children and grandchildren thrive.”
