Education Week reports that President Obama has issued a warning to Republican budget cutters and characterized any reductions in money for education as irresponsible and harmful to the long-term health of the nation’s economy. Ed Week also reports that  a new nonprofit group that aims to convene experts from the nonprofit, government, academic, and business sectors for the sake of expediting technological innovations is tackling early-childhood reading.

The New York Times reports on a wealthy New York suburb that is facing pressure to curb school taxes.
