The Los Angeles Times write about the reform efforts at low-performing schools around the country including Edwin Markham Middle School, long considered one of the worst middle schools in the California.
In Maryland, Gov. Martin O’Malley is considering a 5 percent across-the-board cut in state aid for public education, according to the Associated Press.
California Watch writes, “The first attempt to use a controversial ‘parent trigger’ law to convert a regular public school into a charter school has raised at least one key question: just how public should the petition drive be to gather the majority of parent signatures needed to trigger the change? “
