Gov. Bob Wise Explains How E-Rate Modernization Affects the Future of Your Child’s Education #WiFi4Schools

This Friday, July 11, the Federal Communications Commission will consider a plan to provide Wi-Fi access to an additional 44 million students, 102,000 schools, and 16,000 libraries over the next five years through the expansion, modernization, and simplification of E-rate.
Created in 1996, E-rate currently supports internet connectivity and other communications services for the nation’s schools and libraries, but it does little at the classroom level where students and teachers increasingly rely on tablets, laptops, and other devices to access the internet.
