Common Core and Equity: Ohio

Ohio Preview

Everyone from parents to politicians has an opinion about the common core state standards. Hear how education leaders from the Ohio Department of Education are using education service centers to help support districts in implementing the new standards. We will also hear from administrators with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, a district that has 100% of its students qualifying for free and reduced-priced meals, about the role and importance of professional learning communities, or teacher-based teams as they are called in Cleveland. This video also features the principal and an educator from New Tech West in Cleveland Ohio, who will discuss the importance of project based learning in helping students acquire deeper learning competencies that are needed for success after high school.
