Alliance President Bob Wise Discusses Early Warning Indicators On CNN’s Your Bottom Line

On Thursday morning, Alliance President Bob Wise — former governor of West Virginia —appeared on CNN’s “Your Bottom Line” for an interview with Christine Romans. Wise discussed how a student’s academic achievement can be determined by the 5th grade, and what early warning indicators can help identify a potential future dropout at an early age.


Warning signs include declining academic performance, increased absenses, displinary problems, and an ability to read and write at grade level. Wise said it is important for teachers, parents, and officials to recognize these signs and do something about it to intervene as early as possible.
