Afternoon Announcements: New SAT More Closely Aligned to Common Core State Standards

In a new op-ed, Alliance president Bob Wise discusses how recent action from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to expand Internet access in schools and libraries can improve student outcomes. Huffington Post
Robert Rothman, senior fellow at the Alliance for Excellent Education, said that the revised SAT aligns the test more closely with the Common Core State Standards. Education Week
A homeless student made a recording in which he revealed that he lived on the streets and often didn’t have enough to eat. His teacher listened to the recording and told him, “You have a strength that, no matter what anyone says about you or they do to you, you don’t change who you are as a person. And a lot of people don’t have that strength. So I admire that about you.” NPR
