Tony Bennett resigned on Thursday as Florida education commissioner after allegations of altering school grades in his previous post in Indiana. “The decision to resign is mine and mine alone, because I believe that when this discussion turns to an adult, we lose the discussion about making life better for children,” Bennett said. Tony Bennett, who served as Indiana’s superintendent of public instruction until November of last year, has been accused of pushing his staff to alter that state’s letter-grading system to boost the Christel House Academy charter school from a “C” to an “A.” The founder of the charter school was a friend and campaign donor to Mr. Bennett.
