The partnership will launch with a campaign that showcases short stories – one for each state – about schools removing barriers, saving time, and improving outcomes for students by embracing digital learning.

May 15, 2015When Principal Daisy Dyer Duerr came to St. Paul in 2011, St. Paul High School was on the verge of being taken over by the state. Students were not meeting state expectations in math or literacy. “We choose to live in this area, but we don’t choose for our kids to have any less of an education because of where we live,” Duerr said. Duerr believed technology could help turn around the school. Through several grants, the principal transformed traditional classrooms into digital learning spaces.

With our eLearning2 Digital Age Learning initiative, it felt like just another day of learning! To me, every day is "Digital Learning Day!" I asked staff to Tweet out pictures of their students accessing content, collaborating and creating using both the #DLDay and #eLearning2 hashtags. The result was a great mix of activities from all grade levels, K-12.

March 19, 2015The numbers are still coming in, but so far, 2,000 Digital Learning Day celebrations were held across the country and the globe, with over 500,000 students, educators, and community leaders participating. Digital Learning Day is a true testament to the incredible innovation, leadership, and transformation happening 365 days a year in schools, libraries and youth programs. Not only did it provide an opportunity to collaborate and share, Digital Learning Day was also a day to reflect on and celebrate the many ways that digital learning is empowering educators and students.
