Efforts to close achievement gaps while transitioning to rigorous course content designed to support the Common Core State Standards have found educators using training and development programs and new teaching methods to improve all students' academic achievement. The Alliance for Excellent Education today released videos highlighting how five states—California, Colorado, Kentucky, Maryland, and Ohio—are implementing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and serving significant percentages of low-income students or students of color. Based on interviews that the Alliance conducted with teachers as well as school, district, and state education leaders, the videos serve as a valuable resource for other schools, districts, and states implementing the CCSS.
